A few weeks ago, another new face joined the Life Remodeled team as a volunteer through Serve the Moment’s Summer Corps Program. Welcome to Sruthi Talluri!
Sruthi is a recent Wayne State graduate who majored in Public Health. She was originally a pre-med major. However, as she learned more about Detroit as a resilient city with a colorful history and the constant struggles the city’s residents face, she quickly realized she had a passion for Public Health.
Through her Public Health degree, she was exposed to numerous issues that marginalized communities in the United States experience, and it made her want to play a part in bringing more equity into the world. She is very excited to be joining Life Remodeled as a Summer Corps member, working with our Director of Volunteer and Youth Engagement on calling our donors for check-ins, assisting with community events like our Gleaners Community Food Bank distribution, and assisting our Six Day Project Manager in tracking block captains.
Sruthi is volunteering with Life Remodeled through Serve the Moment’s Summer Corps Program. Serve the Moment was created by Repair the World, a tenant of the Durfee Innovation Society, to send qualified volunteers to nonprofits being disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and the accompanying economic challenges. From July 8th to August 7th, 100 Serve the Moment Corps Members will volunteer across ten cities, and spend 32 hours/week elevating their professional skills and accelerating their personal growth through virtual and in-person service with trusted partners.
Welcome to the team Sruthi! We are very happy to have you!
